Falls Prevention Awareness Month and Day 2011
Governor Scott Walker, by proclamation, has declared September "Fall Prevention Month" and September 23 "Fall Prevention Day" in Wisconsin. Governor Walker, with support from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), urges organizations and individuals to observe the month by becoming familiar with the risk factors associated with falls, and to learn about and practice ways to reduce the risk of falling, add years to your life, and maintain quality of life and independence for Wisconsin's older adults.
Towards this effort, DHS has put together the following resources and activities to help you observe this month within your organization and community. Below you will find links to lists of potential activities, resources for fact sheets, and examples of newsletters, testimonials of past events, and websites where you can find additional information.
